Abstract: In this paper, a NPP model (Forest-BGPG) is introducedto estimate forest NPP with the support of 1km daily MODIS data in 2003, taking Liaoning, Jilin and Heilongjiang provinces as study areas. The results showthat forest NPP in study area in 2003 is 3.7MgC/hm2. Differential tempo-spatial pattern of forest NPP also appears in study areas, NPP of evergreen coniferous forest is 4.1, that of deciduous broadleaf forest, evergreen broadleaf forest and mixed forest is 4.0, 3.8 and 3.9 respectively, and deciduous coniferousforest is lowest, only 3.5. Higher NPP happens in East Liaoning and Changbaimountain, more than 6.3, and Daxinganning mountain is less than 3.2. By comparing with existing national study results and global NPP products in 2003, estimate exactly figures out actual productivity of forest ecosystems, and model provides an effectively continuous way for dynamic monitoring of forest productivityand carbon stock.
